American Nephrology Nurses Association Announces
National, Regional Election Results
PITMAN, NJ PITMAN, NJ Norma Gomez, MBA, MSN, RN, CNN, of Russellville, TN, has been elected national president-elect of the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) for 2012-13. Gomezs responsibilities will include serving on the National Board of Directors (BOD) and as liaison to assigned committees. Gomez is director, NJG Consultants, Inc., Russellville, TN.
Along with Gomez, additional officers were elected in January to serve on ANNAs BOD for 2012-13 (listed below). The new officers will assume their respective positions during ANNAs 43rd National Symposium, April 29-May 2, 2012, in Orlando, FL.
National and Regional Officers
Lynda Ball, MSN, RN, CNN, of Everett, WA, was elected as ANNAs national secretary and will be responsible for all meeting minutes, correspondence, and project management. She will also ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and in compliance. Ball is a vascular access specialist for Fresenius Medical Care.
In the regional elections, Cindy Richards, BSN, RN, CNN, of Birmingham, AL, was elected to serve as Southeast vice president. Richards is renal transplant coordinator, Childrens of Alabama, Birmingham, AL.
Sheila Doss-McQuitty, BSN, RN, CNN, CCRA, of San Jose, CA, was elected to serve as Western vice president. Doss-McQuitty is nursing director of research for Satellite Healthcare, Inc., San Jose, CA.
Regional vice presidents are responsible for managing ANNAs day-to-day activities within a defined geographic area. They serve on ANNAs BOD and act as liaisons between the BOD and local, regional and national members, as well as committees. The vice presidents are also assigned special projects.
Also in the regional elections, members elected three other leaders to serve as chapters coordinator-elect (CCE). CCEs coordinate and supervise regional chapter activities, report to regional vice presidents and serve as members on appropriate committees.
Marianne Neumann, RN, CNN, of Rensselaer, NY, was elected Northeast CCE. Neumann is FFBI clinical lead, IPRO ESRD Network 2, Albany, NY.
Sara Kennedy, BSN, RN, CNN, of Hoover, AL, was elected Southeast CCE. Kennedy is CKD educator, DaVita Southland Regional Office, Birmingham, AL.
Susie Soares-Phillips, RN, CNN, of Turlock, CA, was elected Western CCE. Soares-Phillips is regional director of operations, Satellite Healthcare, Inc., San Jose, CA.
