Free State Fact Sheets on Kidney Disease and Nursing Shortage Now Available
ANNA’s Health Policy Committee has developed state-specific fact sheets on kidney disease incidence and the nursing workforce. For each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, a one-page downloadable fact sheet outlines the number of individuals with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), including statistics on the leading causes of ESRD, such as hypertension and diabetes. The fact sheets also provide data on the number of nurses in the state and the ratio of nurses to residents. A valuable resource for nephrology nurses, the fact sheets can be used to educate patients and inform policymakers about the prevalence of kidney disease and the nursing shortage within their state. The fact sheets are available for free download in the Health Policy Section of ANNA’s Web site.

New Edition of Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing Available in April
ANNA will release the fifth edition of the Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing in April. This revised and expanded edition includes 18 sections and 72 chapters written by experts in nephrology nursing. The Core contains a detailed outline of the knowledge base required for nephrology nursing practice, including chronic kidney disease, acute care, nutrition, pharmacology, transplantation, hemodialysis, vascular access, peritoneal dialysis, pediatrics, infection control, evidence-based practice, the role of the advanced practice nurse, health policy, emergency and disaster preparedness, and more. Each section offers self-assessment questions and continuing nursing education (CNE) credit opportunities. The Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing is $105, with an ANNA member discounted price of $85. To order, visit ANNA’s Web site.

New Resource Available for Certification Review and Preparation
ANNA will release the 2008 edition of the Nephrology Nursing Certification Review Guide in April.
