Did you know a kidney transplant is the best treatment modality for ESKD? Wish you knew more about kidney transplant? Want to be able to provide detailed information to your patients about the transplant process? Please join the Transplant SPN for this first installment of a new series, Transplant 101: Everything You Need to Know about Kidney Transplant. This series offers transplant education to individuals who work in all aspects of nephrology nursing. Whether you work in an inpatient setting, CKD clinic, or a dialysis unit, this information will be useful in your practice.

During this inaugural webinar, learn about the latest transplant wait list statistics, how and when to make a referral, reasons why a patient may not be a transplant candidate, and multi-organ transplants such as kidney/pancreas, liver/kidney, and heart/kidney. There also will be time for questions and answers.

Future topics in the Transplant 101 series will include: transplant wait list, deceased kidney donation/types of donors, living kidney donation options, kidney paired exchanges/chains, blood type incompatible transplants, inpatient care of the fresh transplant patient, transplant polypharmacy, and postoperative complications for the transplant recipient. We invite you to join the Transplant SPN to learn more about transplant and help develop these learning sessions. Contact Amy Woodard, Transplant SPN Leader at amy.woodard@unchealth.unc.edu.
