Kidney Care Partners Responds to Executive Order on 'Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government'
On January 20, 2021, President Biden signed an Executive Order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government. As part of this initiative, federal agencies should assess how their programs or policies address systemic barriers that affect people of color and other underserved groups. Kidney Care Partners provide suggestions about how existing federal policies can be modified to address inequities in the care provided to patients living with kidney disease and kidney failure. This letter highlights how data (including information from quality metrics) could be used to support greater attention to equity (Area 1) and identifies barriers created by existing federal policies (Area 2) that affect the delivery of kidney care to individuals from communities of color.
