New CExpress Program Addresses Fluid Management

ANNA has released another program in the CExpress series. Brooklin Zimmerman, BSN, RN, discusses "Hemodialysis Fluid Management" in this new educational session available in the ANNA Online Library. CExpress is a series of brief online educational programs designed to be completed in 30 minutes or less. Each CExpress session is available for only $5 (including content and CNE processing).

Call for Nominations: ESRD Patient Reported Outcomes Focus Groups

The University of Michigan Kidney Epidemiology and Cost Center (UM-KECC), under contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), is seeking nominations for dialysis providers to participate on focus groups to develop Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) quality measures in the ESRD dialysis facility setting. UM-KECC will convene focus groups via 2-hour webinar teleconference meetings between March and June 2018 to elicit feedback and suggestions for draft question content for two PRO measure topics: (1) Patient Life Goals and (2) Patient Feeling of Safety.


Free Webinar: Medication Management for Nurse Practitioners (March 1)

The Nurses Services Organization (NSO) will host a free CE webinar entitled Medication Management for Nurse Practitioners (NPs): Protecting Yourself from Liability at 1:00 pm ET on March 1. The webinar will highlight medication prescribing situations that could have adverse outcomes for patients and create liability exposure for NPs and also will review risk reduction strategies that NPs can incorporate into their practice to reduce the chance of medication-related events.


New Video Provides Dialysis Research Education

Increasing research knowledge among patients and clinic personnel is key to fostering research ready clinic cultures. Sponsored by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute and created by a University of North Carolina-led interdisciplinary research team, a new video aims to promote research readiness in dialysis clinics. The video features a dialysis patient and nurse and was developed based on input from patients, care partners, dialysis nurses, and patient care technicians.

We provide care to Acute and Chronic patients in our 11 station unit as well as in the ICUs.Must be a graduate of an accredited RN program (BSN preferred); have a current MA RN license and have prior Dialysis experience (acute dialysis experience preferred and/or ICU experience).

Fresenius Medical Care Announces Scholarship Program for ANNA Members

To recognize nephrology nurses' passion and dedication to caring for patients with kidney disease, Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA) is providing ANNA a $20,000 grant for educational scholarships. ANNA will award $4,000 scholarships to five nephrology nurses who wish to further their education. ANNA members are eligible to apply for the new scholarships.  Winners will be announced at the 2018 ANNA National Symposium in Las Vegas, and funds will be distributed ahead of the fall 2018 academic year. The scholarship application deadline is March 15, 2018.
