Empowering Nurses to Protect Themselves and Their Patients: Best Practices in Injection Safety

February 22, 2018 ~  1:00 - 2:00 pm ET

Presenters: Chuck Griffis, PhD, CRNA; Michelle Berreth, BSN, RN, CRNI®, CPP; and Carol Headley, DNSc, ACNP-BC, RN, CNN

Description: Injected medications are used in a variety of treatment settings to prevent, diagnose, and treat illnesses. Unsafe injection practices place patients and staff at risk for preventable infectious and non-infectious adverse health events. This webinar will describe the essential balance between meeting immediate or emergent patient safety needs while performing all recommended infection control practices during clinical care. This webinar also will identify safe injection practices intended to prevent catheter-related bloodstream infections; and describe injection practices in a hemodialysis facility that would potentiate a patient’s risk for infection.
