ANNA Announces National Election Results

The results of the national ANNA election have been finalized. Tamara Kear, PhD, RN, CNS, CNN, of Doylestown, PA, was elected to serve as ANNA President-Elect, and Jennifer Payton, MHCA, BSN, RN, CNN, of Goose Creek, SC was elected as Secretary. Nancy Colobong Smith, MN, ARNP, CNN, of Seattle, WA, and Angela Taylor-Smith, BSN, RN, CNN, of Lawrenceville, GA, were elected Directors. The newly elected candidates will serve on the 2018-2020 ANNA Board of Directors and will assume their respective offices during the 2018 ANNA National Symposium in Las Vegas in April.

Predictions for U.S. Health Care Reform This Year

ANNA member Donna Bednarski, MSN, RN, ANP-BC, CNN, recently shared her thoughts with Nephrology News and Issues on what the upcoming year could look like for health care reform in the United States. Ms. Bednarski is ANNA’s consultant to the Kidney Care Partners, a coalition of patient advocates, dialysis professionals, care providers, and manufacturers dedicated to working together to improve quality of care for individuals with chronic kidney disease. Also interviewed was Robert Blaser, director of public policy for the Renal Physicians Association.

ANNA Joins Initiative to Enhance Infection Control Education for Nurses

ANNA is partnering with the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to train nurses in infection prevention and control. The goal of this partnership is to provide real-time, tailored infection control training to nurses and improve infection prevention and control practices known to be effective in prevention exposure to emerging infectious diseases.
