> Download as a PDF file The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) thanks the legislators who introduced the Addiction Treatment Access Improvement Act of 2017 (H.R. 3692). By broadening the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 823 (g)(2)(G)) to include advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), this bill expands access to patients suffering from opioid addictions. The Addiction Treatment Access Improvement Act of 2017 creates a permanent solution so that nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and certified nurse-midwives are able to use their clinical training to help combat this national crisis.
