Gaining Knowledge and Confidence

I had many of my nephrology questions answered. It was great to have access to experienced experts in this field. If someone asked me whether this program was beneficial, I would say:

Preparing for Future Opportunities

I was able to prepare for future jobs through this mentorship. My mentors were willing to meet with me to do mock interviews, review my resume, and walk me through the job processes. I truly appreciated the advice and assistance I received in preparing for real-world experiences.

Seeing Dialysis in Action

One highlight of the program was the opportunity to tour a Fresenius Dialysis facility, which allowed me to see nephrology nursing in a real clinical setting. 

Many nursing students do not have the chance to observe the dialysis process. This tour showed me how patients are connected to and removed from the machines, and how nurses respond when something is off or a patient is experiencing changes. I was inspired to witness dialysis nurses remaining calm under pressure.

Building a Supportive Network

I appreciate all of the professional connections I made through this program. 

I was able to connect with nephrology nurses around the nation, across multiple time zones. It is so important to develop a community of supportive individuals who want you to continue learning. This program surrounded me with people specialized in a field I was unfamiliar with—people who encouraged me to learn about a new area of nursing.
