New Resources Encourage Dialysis Patients to ‘Speak Up’ to Prevent Infections

The Making Dialysis Safer for Patients Coalition and the American Association of Kidney Patients have released a new video and accompanying handout for patients on dialysis and dialysis staff about the importance of speaking up to prevent infections and improve patient safety. The video, which follows the journey of two patients on dialysis who feel empowered to share concerns about their treatment in order to prevent infections, highlights ways dialysis staff can create an environment where patients feel safe speaking up. The accompanying handout is a visual reminder for staff about the importance of encouraging patients and caregivers to ask questions if they have concerns about their dialysis treatment.
