ANNA 2026 National Symposium Call for Proposals

The 2026 ANNA National Symposium will be held April 25 – 28, 2026 at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans in New Orleans, LA. The ANNA Conferences Committee invites individuals, regardless of clinical or corporate affiliation, to share their expertise by submitting a proposal for presentation. Proposals are being accepted until June 9, 2025.

Are you an ANNA Student Member passionate about making a difference in kidney health and nursing policy? Here’s your chance to attend the 2025 ANNA Advocacy Forum, held June 9-10 in Washington, DC! This two-day event combines impactful learning opportunities with a day of legislative visits on Capitol Hill, where you’ll work alongside experienced ANNA members to advocate for nephrology nursing and kidney health policies. ANNA will fully fund one student member’s participation, covering airfare, hotel, transportation, and meals.

To apply, submit your application along with a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, ANNA Chapter Officer, or someone who can speak to your interest in advocacy. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on advocacy experience and make your voice heard!

Nenita says nephrology nursing is unique because “The diversity of nursing roles in nephrology spans the spectrum from chronic kidney disease, transplant and dialysis. As a nephrology nurse you learn the complexity of kidney physiology, and up to date treatments for those living with kidney disease, so that we can best advocate for our patients undergoing this life altering health journey with them.”

In this episode, our host Dr. Lillian Pryor interviews Donna Bednarski, RN, MSN, ANP-BC, CNN, and Donna Painter, MS, BSN, RN, CNN, ANNA’s Co-Chief Nurse Advisors on Health Policy and Advocacy. Together, they discuss ANNA’s advocacy efforts and health policy initiatives, highlighting the vital role nephrology nurses play in shaping policies that impact kidney care.

Tune in to hear insights from Donna Bednarski’s extensive experience in quality improvement and legislative advocacy, alongside Donna Painter’s expertise in home dialysis and patient education. Don’t miss this engaging conversation on how nephrology nurses can influence health policy and advance care for individuals with kidney disease.

Honor the Legacy of Nephrology Nurses

This invitation is extended to all ANNA members, encouraging them to contribute their cherished memories of a departed fellow ANNA member. These individuals’ names will be honored in a commemorative book titled “The Nightingale Tribute for Nephrology Nurses.”

This heartfelt tradition commenced at the April 2024 National Symposium in Orlando and will be upheld at subsequent National Symposia. A dedicated table in the registration area will feature the memory book and a continuous video loop showcasing the shared reminiscences.

Should you wish to contribute a memory of a departed ANNA member for inclusion in the tribute, click below to submit a tribute along with a photograph of the individual by Monday, April 14, 2025.
