I enjoy working as a thinking partner with facility leadership to improve outcomes.

Describe your qualifications for this role, and include past ANNA leadership positions:

The secretary role for ANNA requires a combination of professionalism, leadership, organizational and communication skills.  My professional career has offered me the opportunity to gain experience in multiple relevant areas, including accuracy in recordkeeping, researching, writing and processing policies and procedures, and Within ANNA, I’ve had many opportunities to lead with decades of volunteer experience at multiple levels, locally and nationally.  As the Chair/Chair designate for the Specialty Practice Networks (SPNs) we streamlined the Work Plan process to eliminate duplication, standardize expectations, and streamline documentation.  As ANNA’s designated representative to ASN’s Transforming Dialysis Access Together education project, I’ve worked to ensure that evidence-based nursing practice is incorporated in the work product.  As a Director on the Board of Directors, I worked with SPNs to ensure they had representation and resources.  I enjoy leading with purpose and heart, mentoring others to help strengthen ANNA and make a lasting impact on our association.  Integrity is key to my professional and volunteer leadership; I’ve done the right thing when it was not easy. I’m committed to ensure my contributions have a lasting effect on the future of ANNA.  My experience, attention to detail, and commitment to streamlining processes whenever possible make me well equipped to fulfill the secretary role.

Describe your role in three ANNA projects/activities which support(ed) ANNA’s mission, goals, and objectives:

Advocacy
As the Chair of the Health Policy Committee, we worked to ensure the maximum impact of our advocacy efforts at a National and State level, advocating for compact state licensure in Florida, which passed.

 Networking
As ANNA’s designated representative to the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) ‘s Transforming Dialysis Access Together project, I’ve ensured evidence-based practice and nephrology nursing principles are incorporated into the fabric of the educational and training materials being developed. Our relationship with ASN is strengthened as we work together toward a common goal.

Education
As SPN Chair, we created and implemented SPNing is Winning!  SPN Leaders and Advisors earn points for projects, articles, activities and more!   Prizes are awarded for the top three achieving SPNs.  This process resulted in innovative projects, increased engagement, and improved recruiting.
