Certified nephrology nurse with 30 years of experience, serving as Director of Cellular Therapy, Apheresis, and Quality program at the University of Virginia. Manager of the acute dialysis and apheresis unit for 20 years. A collaborative partner with UVA Health outpatient dialysis program. Leadership that has resulted in significant innovations, including the implementation of outpatient transplant, photopheresis services, leadership development course, and successful expansion into new outreach clinic sites. Leads workforce development, budgeting, policy design, and interdisciplinary collaboration, always with a focus on improving patient outcomes and sustaining program excellence. Actively shaping the future of nursing through leadership development initiatives.

With over three decades in nephrology nursing and leadership, I bring a seasoned, forward-thinking perspective to the ANNA BOD Secretary role.

As Director of Programs at an academic medical center I continually bring new program and services to the patients we serve.  The work I do professionally align with the mission and values of ANNA.

• Speaker: Delivered more than 50 podium presentations for ANNA and other national platforms

I have advanced nephrology nursing through education, leadership, and mentorship while serving in leadership roles with ANNA.  I have continued to lead programs to success and through accreditations. These experiences allow me to align with ANNA’s mission and position me well to support ANNA’s strategic vision, membership engagement, and growth.

ANNA Conference Planning Committee
As Chair, Chair Designee, Past Chair, and member of the ANNA National Conference Planning Committee, I led the strategic planning and development of ANNA’s flagship educational conferences, ensuring the delivery of diverse, evidence-based programming for nephrology nurses across all career stages. Under my leadership, conference content emphasized leadership development, innovation, professional growth, and emerging roles in nephrology practice for nurses and advanced practice registered nurses.

Apheresis Chapter Author – ANNA Core Curriculum, 8th Edition
As author of the Therapeutic Apheresis chapter in the ANNA Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing, 8th Edition, I developed evidence-based educational content reflecting current clinical practice, emerging therapies, and evolving standards of care. By ensuring scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, and academic rigor, this resource equips nephrology nurses to provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Career Pathways into Nephrology Nursing – Chapter Author
I also authored the Leadership Development chapter in Career Pathways into Nephrology Nursing, highlighting diverse career opportunities and providing a framework for leadership development, recruitment, retention, succession planning, and professional growth across the nephrology continuum.

Through these contributions, I have advanced ANNA’s mission by strengthening the education, leadership, and professional development of the nephrology workforce. As a local, state, and national speaker for nearly three decades, I have expanded the association’s educational reach, promoted excellence in nephrology nursing practice, mentored future leaders, and elevated the voice of nephrology nursing through education, advocacy, and scholarship nationwide.
