Naima Ogletree Receives DAISY Award for Nephrology Nurses Advancing Health Equity

ANNA is proud to recognize Naima Ogletree, DNP, MSN, APRN-BC, as the recipient of the 2025 DAISY Award for Nephrology Nurses Advancing Health Equity.

A nurse practitioner with Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Ogletree has dedicated nearly three decades of her career to nephrology nursing. She is known for her leadership in advancing equity in chronic kidney disease (CKD) care, including spearheading the implementation of the revised eGFR formula that removed race from kidney function calculations across her health system.

Her work has also focused on increasing awareness of end-of-life care, addressing disparities in kidney transplant access, and developing education initiatives to support patients with low health literacy. Colleagues and patients alike describe her as compassionate, empathetic, and a trusted advocate.

ANNA congratulates Dr. Ogletree on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for her extraordinary contributions to nephrology nursing and health equity.

ANNA Call for Abstracts for Webinar Topics

ANNA is pleased to announce the “Call for Abstracts for Webinar Topics”.

Presentation level is important to the planning process to assure that all learning content levels are represented in the overall program. Using Benner’s “From Novice to Expert” theory, ANNA has adapted it into three (3) content levels:

– Advanced beginner: Primary focus is on the individual patient and family. Uses decision trees, algorithms, protocols, and evidence-based practice guidelines. Principles, based on experiences, begin to be formulated to guide actions.
– Proficient: More holistic understanding improves decision-making. Able to critically think based on experiences. Advocates for patient and family.
– Expert: Has intuitive grasp of clinical situation. Performance is fluid, flexible, and highly proficient. Incorporates evidence-based resources and nursing research into daily plan of care.

Webinar participants

Novice and experienced nurses and their associates who are engaged in the practice of healthcare informatics in any practice area.

Authorship of abstracts

The primary author/investigator submits the topic with full consent of all co-authors/investigators. The primary author will be the contact person for all future correspondence. Although a nurse should be one of the authors/investigators, interprofessional topics are welcome (e.g. physician, pharmacist, social work, etc.). ANNA members and non-members are invited to submit topics. Encore topics may be submitted for consideration. Topics selected for presentation must have a presenter who is able to present for a future date determined for the webinar based on availability.

Topic submission and acceptance

Topics may be submitted throughout the 2025 calendar year.

Acceptance

Webinars may be accepted on a rolling basis. Notification will be provided to the topic submitter in the event that the topic is chosen for presentation.

To apply, please complete the application form via ANNA Call for Abstracts for Webinar Topics.

A Look Back: ANNA and ASN Leaders on Teaming Up for Patient Care

At our recent Day of Collaboration during the ANNA Fall Summit, we highlighted the importance of working together to improve kidney care. Crews, MD, ScM, FASN.

In the episode, they share how a new agreement between ANNA and ASN opened the door for stronger partnerships between nurses and nephrologists. If you’d like to revisit the conversation that helped shape this year’s event, you can listen anytime.
