In April 2021 and under the direction of the American Nephrology Nurses Association’s Leadership Committee chaired by Nancy Pierce, BSN, RN, CNN, the association launched the Way Into Nephrology Nursing Webinar Series. This series is designed for the student or new-to-practice nurse who is interested in learning more about nephrology nursing. Facilitated by Leadership Committee members Dr. Jami Brown and Dr. Amber Paulus, this episode provides the conversations from the inaugural episode of the series.

04. Interview with Nephrology Nurse Advocacy Expert Teresa R. Villaran

What does advocacy mean to you? In this episode, Teresa R. Villaran, MS, MSN, CNN, CCRN (Alumnus), discusses with Lillian Pryor, MSN, RN, CNN, why it is important for nurses to become advocates for their profession and patients. She encourages nurses to use their collective voice to influence and advocate for policy and health care legislation at the local, state, and federal levels. She advises nurses to “Develop your story, and make sure legislators know your name and that you are a nurse.”

05. Charting ANNA’s Future: President David Walz Delivers ‘State of the Association’ Address

On August 31, 2021, Mr. David Walz, MBA, BSN, RN, CNN, FACHE, the 2021-2022 President of the American Nephrology Nurses Association, provided a “State of the Association” address. During his address, Mr. Walz updated association members and the nephrology community on the strategic planning session held during the July 2021 ANNA Board of Directors meeting.
